The Crooked Lane Learning Center is located on approximately 223 acres of forested land.  Located in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, it is just a short drive from Columbus, Newark and Mansfield.  Crooked Lane Learning Center offers a wide array of habitat diversity such as forested areas, a large pond and is home to a portion of the East Branch Creek.   Crooked Lane also offers educational and team building opportunities with our on-site Challenge Course.

 We offer great programming to give girls a new  

 interest in and admiration for the outdoor world.  Creeking, pond studies 

 and hiking are just a few of the opportunities that girls can discover at

 Crooked Lane Learning Center.

Crooked Lane Learning Center Pick a Programs

Summer 2010

Visit Crooked Lane Learning Center and enjoy the program you want, when you want it.  It’s as easy as ABC.  Check out the information below for the programs, dates and times. 

Where:  Crooked Lane Learning Center, Located in Morrow County.
Time: All programs are 2 hours in length followed by 1 hour at the spray ground.
Dates: Multiple dates available; see below.
Fee:

All Crooked Lane Pick a Programs are $8 per girl.  Payment is due after you receive the confirmation.

Adults do not pay a fee but must register.

Deadline:  20 days prior to chosen date.
Max/Min:  All programs have a maximum of 25 and a minimum of 12 except for the Paddling Party which has a max/min of 12/8. Smaller or larger groups contact Beth at 419-522-0391.

How to Pick A Program?  It’s as easy as A B C

A.  Ask the girls in your troop which program they would like to attend.  Don’t worry about the programs that are more than one age level, each program will be tailored to the age level(s) attending.  All programs are followed by 1 hour use of the spray ground.  Spray ground is available prior to the Night Hike and Campfire program.

B. Find a date and time below that works for your troop.  Make sure to mark a few dates and times as they are based on instructor availability.

C. Complete the registration form and submit it.

Teddy Bear Picnic

Bring your favorite Teddy Bear while we make crafts, eat a fun snack and play some beary fun outdoor games!

Camping 101

Learn what camping is all about, roast a marshmallow, tie knots, go for a hike and complete requirements towards  the Ready, Set,  Go Camping Try-it or the Outdoor Fun Badge.

Ice Cream, U Scream

Learn the science behind summer’s favorite treat.  We will make our own ice cream, analyze the different flavors and go on a hike during this super sweet program. 

Challenge Course Challenge

Work with your troop to get across the Croc Pit and through the Spider Web.  You will have a chance to complete age appropriate challenges while pushing yourself to work with your team!

East Branch Creek Adventure

Get a little wet while learning the skills of stream quality monitoring in the local creek.  Old Shoes Required.

Night Hike and Campfire*

Bring your night eyes as we explore Crooked Lane Learning Center after dark.  We will end the evening with a campfire and some marshmallows.

Up in the Air

J, C

Build your own kite, paper airplanes and more.  We will learn a little about the science of flying and weather permitting we will spend some time getting our creations off the ground.

Hi Tech Treasure Hunt

J, C, S, A

Learn what it means to ‘triangulate’ as technology helps you get to the treasure.  You will learn all about Geocaching and GPS technology on this fun hike through the woods.

Paddling Party

J, C, S, A

Want to learn how to canoe?  Here is your chance to see what canoeing is all about.  Girls will learn the basic strokes and maneuvers to paddle around the pond.  No experience necessary.  Max/Min-12/8

Sprayground 

Crooked Lane is the only Girl Scouts of Ohio's Heartland camp facility that has a Sprayground.  The Sprayground is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.  It is open to camping troops and program participants.
